Flight's High Density Polyethylene has an excellent impact strength and is easily formed and machined using conventional equipment.
HDPE is not as flexible as low density polyethylene and not as rigid as polypropylene. It may be bent to a considerable degree without stress whitening.
Flight HDPE is available in:
Most colours
Four embossing patterns
Sheet or roll form
Flame retardent and UV stabilised grades
Physical Properties of HDPE:
Fairly high impact strength
Excellent moulding qualities
Readily heat sealed but heat resistance is limited to approximately 80 C
Can be welded
Is fairly flexible but has some stiffness
Has good elasticity
Will float on water
Is flammable with a slow burning rate
Not recommended for long term exposure to ultra violet light unless is coloured black or with cadmium pigments. UV stabilisers can also be added
Chemical Properties of HDPE:
Very good resistance to acids, bases, inorganic solutions, oils and greases
Readily cleaned with most cleansers
Not recommended for use with strong oxidising agents or organic solvents in conditions exceeding 80 C
Meets USFDA Food Contract standards.
